Research methods Repeated surveys within the town centre lead to the identification of 250 natural stone portals of relevance, dating from the 15th to the 20th century. A total of 172 portals were selected for their representative features, 100 of which have an evident artistic value. Out of this number, 21 portals were surveyed in detail.
